Controversy

In the movie, James is stereotyping Darnell, who is a black person, has been in jail simply because of his skin color.[2]

The film's affectability to race isn't greatly improved. It sees King attempting to join a white supremacist fraternity at Darnell’s incitement, at last having a bond with a black gang whom he teach about trade: “The stock market is gangsta,” they conclude.[3]

A quoted dialogue from the movie;

Darnell Lewis: You know what? I got something to say to you all since I'm guessing this is the first time you've been forced to listen to a black man. You know maybe you guys should just calm the fuck down. Black people ain't tryin' to hurt you. I mean technically I am right now but that's only because of what you were trying to do to the white guy. Think about that. Google "I Have A Dream" assholes. (Cohen, 2015)[4]
