Friday: The Animated Series is an American adult animation TV series created by Ice Cube based on the Friday film trilogy (Friday, Next Friday, Friday After Next). The series only have 8 episodes, released on June 2007 and distributed by New Line Television. Most characters from the films are not voiced by their respective actors, instead voiced by veteran voice actors[1].

Plot

The show takes place in the crazy streets of South Central Los Angeles, focuses on the life of Craig Jones, his family, and Smokey with original characters returning like Deebo, Dana, Pops, and Betty.[2].

Reception

Despite the Friday trilogy has gained a cult status as one of the most well know Black movie with iconic characters, scenes, and catch phrases, the animated series in not as well known[3]. The show was listed as one of the worst cartoons adaptation from live-action movies in an article released by Screenrant.com [4].
