Summary

Description

Scene from the television program The Lieutenant. Pictured from left are: Gary Lockwood, Dennis Hopper and Don Marshall. The episode is "To Set It Right".

There are uncited reports that the episode wasn't aired due to NBC's unhappiness with it. It dealt with race relations and this was a controversial topic in 1964. The uncited information continues by saying that the network refused to pay the costs for production of the episode.
The evidence is that the network did plan to air the episode as it sent out publicity photos and a release with the planned air date. It can be seen that the photo in this upload was printed twice-once in March of 1964 and again in July of 1970. No corporation would have sent out publicity material for something they didn't intend to use.
The Paley Center for Media has a copy of the episode in their television collection and the remarks are "commercials deleted". This is an "air copy" of the episode as there would have been no commercials to delete otherwise. They're inserted either on a network or local level.
Date IMDB shows the episode airing on February 22, 1964. The photo was used by the respective print media on March 3, 1964 and again on June 16, 1970.
