Do Not Resist was released on April 14, 2016, in the USA. The American film was produced by Vanish Films. The film was directed by Craig Atkinson. The movie was displaying how the rising use of military weapons by police officers and law enforcement within the United States[1].

Plot

In the 1970s, police tactical units, urban warfare tactics, and heavy automatic weapons such as rifles were given to police states due to the increasing trend of street crime. After 9/11, militarization grew enormously where the Department of Homeland Security was established with lots of budgets given to law enforcement to end terrorism within the country. However, the cities and states do not need armored vehicles and automatic weapons as the criminals do seem to be as serious as in the warzone. Due to the rising of heavy-tank and fully armed law enforcement, human and civil rights are taken over with the righteous violence law. In tactical seminars, law enforcement labeled several civilians as the enemy which has created a new warzone within the urban and rural cities which lead to a non-democratic condition in the country. In the end, the high usage of heavy weapons within the locals has created riots and demonstrations due to the law enforcement violence towards civilians especially African Americans like in the tragedy in Ferguson, Missouri[2].

Controversy

Heavy-Armed Law Enforcement[3]

The film reveals gunfire to an unarmed African American man by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri, in 2014. Of course, the gunfire eventually led to a demonstration filled with many residents including African Americans since the unarmed African American man was innocent only falsely accused by the police officers. This has shown that law enforcement has used their heavy weapons brutally with the righteous violence. The victims of course the multi-colored skin especially African Americans. With assault rifles and lethal gear given to police states, law enforcement has used the "law" for their own goal and taking over the civil rights[4].
