Daddy Calls Me Man was written by Angela Johnson. She is very talented and it proved by many awards that she received in her whole world carer. She received award-winning American children's book and poetry author with over 40 books to her credit. She began her writing career in 1989 with the publication of a picture book called "Tell Me a Story, Mama" which won the Ezra Jack Keats New Writer Award in 1991. She has won three Coretta Scott King Awards. She is also the recipient of the Michael L Printz Award. "When I Am Old With You" was an Honor Book in 1990 and named an American Library Association Notable Book. [1]

Pros

Jenniffer wrote her review about this book, she mentioned that it was such a fun and cute book to read with our child. It was inspiring and a great read for children. It was about a young African-American boy who loved to write poems. There was a bunch of short story versus within this story consisting oh a happy home and a happy life. The little boy in the story learned all about his past generations within his family and what it was like for them. The family also has painting on their wall of each parents that the little boy learns from. Other reader thought it was a special book highlighting father son relationships in the form of poetry. The narrator was a little boy who cherishes the fact that his dad calls him "man". The story also addresses relationships between the young boy and his mother and sister. [3]
