Joshua By the Sea by Angela Johnson.jpg

"I am Joshua, in the sun, sand and by the sea." [1]

Summary

"A young boy enjoys a day at the beach with his family. The pastel watercolor illustrations that fill each double-page spread are cozy and soothing, and the language is rhythmic and quietly reassuring." - School Library Journal [2]

Pros

This short story is enjoyable to read to the toddlers. The pages were short and the toddlers would easy to identify Joshua, his sister and his parents. [3]

This book is very rare find! Impossible to find a board book with an African-American male main character. To have a book like this at all is worth every penny. It is good collection for the younger one. [4]
