Kosas
Kosas is a clean beauty brand founded by Sheena Yaitanes in 2015 and now the collection is carried at Sephora, Credo and Goop. Yaitanes was inspired to launch her company because she could never find a lipstick that felt good, or a foundation that held up through the course of an entire day. Yaitanes felt like it was her responsibility to make beauty products that were easy and effective, and now Kosas is one of the fastest growing clean beauty brands on the market.
Yaitanes launched Kosas company with four products, the Weightless Lip Color Collection, and shipped all the orders from her kitchen table. Since launching, Kosas has had a breakthrough product with their Tinted Face Oil, which took two years to develop as it was a new format of foundation.[1]
Support to Anti-Black racist movement
As Kosas wrote on Instagram on June1, 2020, they pledged $20,000 "to organizations who are actively fighting to make real change: Black Lives Matters, Black Lives Matters LA, and Color of Change.[2] They outlined resources for the nation to do its part and said, “We will not be silent. We stand in solidarity with all those fighting against social justice.”[3]
The brand also urged its more-than-149,000 followers to do their part by donating to various organizations, contacting their congressional representatives, and signing petitions seeking justice for George Floyd, Tony McDade, and Breonna Taylor, all of whom were killed at the hands of police.[4]
